Riders and Creston win Thursday

Golden 2 @ Fernie 6

On Thursday night the Ghostriders fired 54 shots at Rocket goalie Owen Sikkes and eventually scored 6 goals.

In the first the Riders had a 30-2 shot advantage but could only put two past Sikkes. Justin Peers (Titus-Stensland) and Keagan Kingwell (Lagace) scored the goals.

In the second the Rockets Bryce McDonald scored on Brandon Butler but a couple of minutes later Alex Cheveldave ( Sibel-Traverse) scored what would turn out to be the game winner then Aidan Wilson (Abbott) scored again and the period ended with a 4-1 Rider lead and a 41-7 shot advantage.

In the third Mitch Titus (Stensland-Peers) scored but with 2:53 left Carter Vouri got another one for the Rockets before Justin Peers scored into the empty net.

The shots were 13-12 in the third. The Riders went 0-1 on the PP while the Rockets were 0-2.  Fernie's Mike Dyck and Trey Beckett entertained the crowd and one linesman with a fight in the third, the other linesman had to break it up...

In the other Mountain game it was ...
Kimberley 2 @ Creston 6
After losing the first two games, both by a 4-3 score, the Thunder Cats finally figured out how to beat the Nitro's last night.  Julian Benner was the star of the show scoring 3 goals including what would turn out to be the game winner in the second. The Cats also outscored Kimbo 3-1 in a somewhat hostile third period that saw Logan Wullum take 17 min in PIM at the 1:03 mark. Slashing, roughing, cross check (5)  game misconduct and likely at least a 1 game suspension as well. Not bad totals for the hometown boy... all star goalie Brock Lefebvre had the win in net and Creston outshot the Dynamiters 35-25.

With the win Creston now has 30 points Kimbo 28 while the Riders edge just a little closer to Kimberley with 23. Creston is in Spokane Friday while Kimberley plays in Castlegar and the Rockies are here in Fernie Saturday.

Kimberley and Creston play again next Friday. The Riders get a big test on the 25th when they play in Creston and on the 26th when the Nitro's play here in Fernie.

NEXT HOME GAME SATURDAY VS THE ROCKIES
