Ghostrider Notebook... and a few other things

The Ghostriders play the Columbia Valley Rockies Friday night right here in Fernie. This will be the fourth time these two teams have played each other this year.
The last game was last Friday when the Riders lost 2-1 giving them a 1-2 record against the Rockies who they will play a total of 8 times before mid February.

The Rockies #1 goalie has been Connor McKay but he didn't play last night (Tuesday) in Golden and was not listed as a backup or as injured. Anyway it didn't matter and the Rockies won 4-1 giving them a 5 point lead on the Rockets for the final playoff spot. With 13 points the Rockies are now a mere 4 points behind the third place Riders with 17. This is an important game for both teams.

Ghostrider Notebook
Tristan Downe is expected to play Friday, the 18 year old defensemen was injured
in training camp but has healed up and will make his debut on the weekend .

Keagan Kingwell, Kyle Haugo, Tayler Sincennes and Trevor Broad are all unlikely
for the weekend games because of injuries.

D-Men Keagan Kingwell, was named as the Boston Pizza Player of the Month
and Alex Cheveldave was the Tim Horton’s Player of the Week.
Forward Joey Stensland was the McDonald’s Practice Player of the Week. For the record, every coach we have ever had loves the practice player award.

Mitch Titus was not injured after the three crosschecks directly to the head last Friday, if the referees can't or won't call the blatant head shots, (that could easily have been majors Friday) then give us back the two fight rule.

Speaking of fighting...Both Keagan Kingwell and Nolan Lagace had beauties in the last couple of weeks, and Kevin Pierce, Evan Traverse and Trevor Broad have chipped in as well.

The Riders Justin Peers picked up a 5 minute check from behind penalty in Beaver Valley but as of this writing was not listed on the suspended list... but that could change.

The Riders play in Nelson Saturday night and that game is a scheduled Drive 99.1 radio broadcast game with Josh Hoffman at the mike.

Round' the League

The Nelson Leafs had 5 players on the KIJHL suspended list after a brawl during a 7-1 loss in Creston last Saturday and they only had 15 skaters on the ice in Grand Forks on Tuesday when they lost 3-2 in OT . Nelson was leading 2-0 in the third but with a short bench they burned out and the Bruins scored 2 third period goals then the OT game winner. They will get a couple of the Hanson brothers back in time for the Rider game Saturday.

Kimberley will be the main beneficiary of the four Creston suspensions that include their top scorer Justin James who has 21 points in 13 games so far when they play in Creston Friday. Creston are hosting the Cyclone tournament in April so have loaded up and are a powerful scoring machine with 74 goals and a +46 rating so the suspensions should help Kimbo plus they will be missing their suspended  HC and GM - Jeff "Mad Dog" Dubois

There were 17 suspensions handed down after last weekend's play, you can see the amusing list here Kelowna and Osoyoos (who don't usually engage in that stuff)  were featured as well Saturday then followed it up with a couple of majors and a suspension Sunday.

The Riders play the Rockies again next Thursday November 10th then on Saturday the 12th they play Golden, and both games are here in Fernie.

And finally... the funniest thing I have read week is.....
