The Weekly Roundup- alarms-gross' The Learning Channel Hats PP goals and round the league

After losing two games at home against Kimberley and Creston the Riders topped it off with a 5-3 loss against the last place Columbia Valley Rockies who were 39 points behind them in the standings. Was that a fire alarm I heard going off after that game?

A couple of days later the Ghostriders played Creston and Nelson and the answer was yes, it was some sort of an alarm. Friday night in Creston the firemen skated away with a scorching 8-2 road win leaving the Thunder Cats looking for water and a litter box.

Then in Fernie against coach Dave McLellan’s Off The Wall Gang, The Nelson Leafs,  the boys got a 5-1 win.  The Leafs took a couple of bench minors and a gross misconduct penalty in Fernie really impressing the Kamloops referee (who was one of 2 refs visiting the Division doing a few games) with their theatrics and wry sense of humour. For the record they were shutout 3-0 the night before in Invermere, by the same pair of Kamloops refs. Cause it's always their fault.

2 Tweets
1/ Creston usually plays the Riders a lot closer and the Thunder Cats beat Golden 7-1 the next night that ended  with this somewhat telling Tweet

After whatever that was on Friday, the bounce back with a big 7-1 win over tonight. with the hat trick!
2/ The BV Nitehawks don't like Nelson, one bit...one of their main rivals.
": Final 5-1 Riders" sweet, sweet music!!

Ghostrider Weekend Notebook
Joel Burgess has had points in 14 of his last 15 games and scored 3 goals including a shorthanded goal in Creston, and had a goal against Nelson.  Aaron Neufeld had 3 goals and an assist and Derek Georgopoulos had a goal and 3 assists in the two games after missing games with an injury. Nice to see D-man Zak Kutchler get a goal and a couple of helpers last week along with his usual hard play on the boards. Kyle Haugo also got an assist and enough big hits against the Leafs to be named as the Riders Player of the Week. Doan Smith (2 goals 1 assist) continues to lead the league in scoring with 56 points but Nitro Jason Richter is just 1 point behind. Sam Plaquin, who may be the most underrated player in the league had 3 points in the two games and also scored 2 goals in the Invermere loss. Jeff Orser was in net for both of the wins as well and is in the running for the Division's Top Goalie award.
