Ghostrider Notebook

Ghostrider Notebook

The Ghostriders play in Spokane Friday night and in Grand Forks Saturday. Spokane is in last place in their division but they have the top two KIJHL scorers in the lineup and Grand Forks is in first place in that same division and as of Wednesday AM had scored the most goals in the KI. Both games are Drive 99.1 radio broadcast games at 8:00 Fernie time.

The Riders Brandon Butler (photo) finished September off with a 2-0 shutout on the road in Golden. Ty Carron (PP) and Mitch Titus scored the goals and the Riders road record is now 2 wins 3 losses and 1 overtime loss good for 5 of a possible 12 points, well almost 500.

The Ghostriders played just their second home game of the young season last Saturday and had a 7-3 win over the Castlegar Rebels.

Ryan Kennedy had 2 goals and 2 assists, the 19 year old from Calgary had 14 points in his rookie year and has 3 goals and 3 assists in 6 games so far this year. Tayler Sincennes scored a pair as well and had an assist. Riley Siebel and D man Ben Shushkovsky scored their first Jr goals last week. Brandon Butler had the win in net again Saturday.

The nicest goal… Nolan Lagace’s goal after receiving a great pass from Aidan Wilson in the third vs the Rebels.

The Rider special teams were better last weekend in Golden they went 1-4 on the PP and killed 3 and on Saturday, they scored 2 PP goals and 1 shorthanded goal (Sincennes) and killed 6 penalties.

Mack Differenz has left the team, he had an opportunity to take an electrical apprenticeship and he took it. All the best to Mack.

The Riders Boson Pizza Player of the Month was Mitch Titus, Mitch had 4 goals and 5 assists in 7 games. Ryan Kennedy was the Tim Horton’s Player of the Week and Brandon Butler was the McDonald’s Practice Player of the Week.

Rider Athletic Therapist Kayla Neufeld got married last weekend. We wish Kayla and Justin a long and happy life together.

Every season the players go golfing and play for the Panger Cup. Here is a photo of the winners.

The Ghostriders are participating in the Reach a Reader program.
