Off the Glass
The Ghostriders only played one game last weekend and that was on the road in Kimberley where they lost 3-1 with an empty net goal being the third goal. The Riders were down 2-0 late in the third with their goalie out of the net when Justin Peers from Tayler Sincennes and Zak Kutchler scored to make it 2-1. Kimberley scored into the empty net after that to finalize the outcome. Jeff Orser was in net and was named as the Rider’s Player of the Game as was Kimberley goalie Brody Nelson for the Nitro’s.
The game was meaningless as far as the Eddie Mountain standings go for the Riders who will finish in first place and will face the Golden Rockets in the first round of the playoffs. On the other hand, second place Kimberley could still be caught by Creston so the game meant a little more to them.
A few wins would still help the Ghostriders if they can get out of the division, right now with 71 points they are tied with Beaver Valley for second overall and home ice could be at stake.... Osoyoos with 83 points and 3 games left will finish 1st overall.
The #TCats scored 4 goals in the 3rd to pick up a 7-4 road win over @RocketsGolden. Connor Kidd with the hat trick. Next up @RiderNewsKIJHL.
As he says... next up for the Ghostriders is a game in Creston on the 10th with the Thunder Cats who still have a reason to win and a chance at second place and home ice in their series with Kimbo. Standings as of Sunday night- 52 game schedule.

The Ghostriders were missing Doan Smith, Travis Thomsen and Cole Keebler last weekend and they may miss this weekend as well.
The Riders will finish out the schedule with three games in a row against the Columbia Valley Rockies who are out of the playoff picture. Two of the games are in Fernie on Friday and Sunday. On Friday the 13th it’s Diamond Ring Night where some lucky fan will win a diamond ring from Jay’s Jewellers. Jay’s is owned and operated by longtime Fernie Saber, Elk Valley Blazer and Fernie Ghostrider supporter Dale Nicholson... every year he donates a ring and lots of his time to the hockey team.
Had a chance to listen to former Rider D man (2 Championships) Cody Reinbold Coach Craig Mohr and KI VP Phil Iddon have a few beers and tell some war stories a couple of weeks ago on Reinhold's 28th birthday. I woulda had a couple too ....but I usually wait till noon.
For the record Reinbold is a production manager at Viking Air in Calgary and he does some scouting for Coach Mohr.
Well we're not much on the heart warming stuff round here ...but this was kinda nice.
Way to go Dad! “@james_ouimet8: "@FernieFreePress:'Panger' brings back the stack http://www.thefreepress.ca/sports/290662491.html … @Panger40 "”

Well I remember a couple of years ago someone from Golden accidentally spelled Marcel's last name wrong on Twitter giving this writer fits of laughter ... and much horror actually to the Golden Twitter'er.... Oh how quickly I forget about the new soft world we're in ... so I suppose now it's Jeff and his "Henchmen" s turn not to let The Drive 99.1's Kyle Christensen do the radio broadcast Tuesday. Sorry Kyle....
How about the Revelstoke Grizzlies who have won 6 in a row to get back into contention for the final playoff spot.... where were you guys earlier in the season ?
Here at the Rider News Site we're rooting for the Grizz, they only won 9 games last season and just had 22 pts but they have staged a remarkable comeback this year under new boss Ryan Parent
The Grizz have some work ahead though, they go to 100 Monday the 9th then host Kamloops and Chase to finish the year.
