Then This
The Ghostriders defeated Golden 4 games to 1 finishing up last Wednesday night with a 4-2 home ice win. The Riders top scorers were centres Sam Plaquin (goals-assists and points) 4-4-8, Cole Keebler 2-6-8  and you are always happy when your centres lead in scoring.    All the Rider player stats are HERE

Ghostrider forward Doan Smith remains on the sidelines with an injury but has been skating...D-Travis Thomsen is a possibility for later on in this series and steady D Zak Kuchler is playing again ... so with almost a full roster Coach Mohr can do the famous Jimmy Pattison car salesman trick, fire (sit out) the salesman (player) who sold the least amount of cars (not good outing) at the end of each month (game).

Evan Reid leads the D in scoring with 5 points in 5 games, we knew it was just a matter of time with this guy to be a PAG player.

Aaron Neufeld 2 G 6 A is playing the best I've ever seen him play in the last 3 years,  he has shown us lots of "hey did you see that" moments lately and those moments are getting closer together now that it counts.

After missing a ton'o games with injuries Spencer Bender is back and has scored 5 goals in 5 games...if him and Keebler can stay healthy...

All we need to say about Jeff Orser and Coach Craig Mohr is that Jeff was named as the Eddie Mountain Division’s Top Goalie and Rider Head Coach and General Manager Craig Mohr was named as the Eddie Mountain Coach of the Year.

Big awards as they both beat out some pretty good candidates...the coaches in the division were all worthy so I'm guessin it was a close vote... ditto for the goalies, Lefebvre and the guy were about to see, Brouwer, were as good as they get at this level as well.

The Kimberley Dynamiters defeated Creston four games to one last Thursday night.  Their series was a very low scoring affair and their goalie Tyson Brouwer only allowed 4 goals in 5 games.

Kimberley won three league awards, Coy Prevost was the Rookie of the Year, Jordan Busch was the Best Defenseman and Jason Richter was the KIJHL Top Scorer and the MVP.

All the awards we just talked about are just rumours as the Drama Queens at the KIJHL refuse to post the winners until it's so late in the season that everyone has forgotten about them... great strategy

Kimberley had 6 PP goals on 21 opportunities Fernie had 5 on 28 opportunities. Both teams had 1 shorthanded goal.

Fernie scored 25 goals and allowed 12 so were plus 13. Kimberley scored 9 allowed 4 and were plus 5.

What I hope for is summed up in this Tweet

Kimbo played 5 low scorin tight games. Sure hope the FG and KD get the six guns out 4 the next week or so. Shoot out at the OK corral ?hope!

Nelson and BV hate each other
KIJHL president Bill Ohlhausen told The Nelson Daily the league had contacted Beaver Valley Nitehawks franchise about the incident that happened during the second-period intermission of Saturday’s Murdoch Division playoff game between the Leafs and Hawks.

Ohlhausen told The Nelson Daily he believes security will be improved for the rest of the playoffs.
“They are to have a meeting to set up a committee with the RCMP and municipality to fix up the entrance onto the ice for the visiting team,” Ohlhausen said.

“I had a call with Dennis (Bedin) and he told me (Hawks) are trying everything they can to stop any further incidents from happening.”
The incident occurred when the Leaf were leaving the ice following the second period.
A fan became involved with some of the Leaf players as the team walked from the ice to the dressing room. Full story here

Lets clear up this rumour right now, Rider Radio Broadcaster Kyle Christensen has not asked the league for better security the next time he has to broadcast in Nelson. So there...

PLAYER PROFILE

PENTICTON, B.C. — The father of a B.C. junior hockey player could face criminal charges following an altercation with the referees who worked his son’s weekend game in the Okanagan.
Penticton RCMP spokesman Sgt. Rick Dellebuur confirmed the father, a Kamloops man whose son plays for the Merritt Centennials, is being investigated for uttering threats against the referees as they left the South Okanagan Events Centre.
Dellebuur said the exchange allegedly involved profanities and a threat of physical harm directed at the referees, and was reported to police the following day by the B.C. Hockey League’s director of officiating.
BCHL commissioner John Grisdale said Wednesday he was unaware of the incident, but doesn’t have any concerns about officials’ safety. Full Story Here
