The Ghostriders
will play the Golden Rockets in the first round of the playoffs the schedule is
below. The teams will go 1-1 because of ice time problems. Fernie couldn't get the ice because of the Ice
Carnival and Golden I hear had a hockey tournament. It will mean lots of travel for the players.
The Ghostriders
finished up the regular season with four games last week. They won 4-3 in
Creston last Tuesday then played Invermere three times in a row. They won 7-2
at home Friday, 5-4 on the road and on Sunday in Fernie lost 3-2 in OT.
The Riders used AP 's Dalton Bouvier, Evan Pumphrey, and Trevor Broad Sunday and Jacen Richards last Saturday.
When this was written Cole Keebler, Travis Thomsen Dan Burgess were day to day with injuries and Doan Smith was listed as indefinite.

The Riders also finished up the season second overall in the KIJHL with 78 points, Osoyoos was first with 87. This means
the Ghost will have home ice advantage for the first three rounds of the
playoffs... if they keep winning.
Fernie finished
with a 21-2-1-2 home record and a 16-9-0-1
road record.
Golden had a
15-9-0-2 home record and a 8 -15 -0-3 road record.
The Ghostriders
won all four games at home vs Golden but were only 1-3 in Golden.
Golden’s Head
Coach and GM Ty Davidson announced that he will be leaving the team after the playoffs.
Davidson was in Golden for four years but wanted to move closer to his family
in Salmon Arm... it was just odd that the announcement came out before the
playoffs .
Kimberley will
play Creston in the first round of the playoffs, they will have a nice short travel
schedule that may give the winner an advantage in the second round.

Round the League
It has been hard for teams to post their game summaries on the KIJHL website for the last couple of weeks. The KIJHL and several of their teams use esports as their server, or host or what ever you want to call them and the web sites have been very slow lately. The KIJHL isn't the only league with issues, the AJHL and BCHL also use esports and have reported the same thing. The problem seems to happen on game nights when everyone is trying to input their info all at once. Esports probably has some bug going on but if you were wondering why the box scores are annoyingly late after the games... now you know. The other option is Pointstreak

Ryan Edwards was named BCIHL Rookie of the Month for January for his 10 points in five games (four goals and six assists)….
Jamie Vlanich, who had yet make an appearance this year due to knee surgery made his debut last weekend in a home-and-home series versus EWU and had 2 goals. Vlanich led the Kootenay International Junior Hockey League (KIJHL) in scoring last year with 97 points while playing for the Nelson Leafs. He also had stops in Fernie and Castlegar. Edwards won it all with BV last year.

News Item
Revelstoke went 8-2 in their last 10 games but missed the playoffs based on wins, Sicamous had 2 more. That was a valiant effort by the players.I feel for them but not for their HC and GM who is planning on holding a Spring Camp in Armstrong on March 27-29. For those who don't know, the Armstrong arena is the home ice of the KIJHL's North Okanagan Knights
My take... the Revelsoke management (Ryan Parent) scheduling a Spring Camp in another team's rink is a slap in the face to the North Oak franchise, who had a terrible season and didn't need to be kicked when they were down.
And don't think this is just one writer ranting about this, several GM's round the league are pissed because they know how it would feel if it happened to them... they are at odds with this but not publicly, even North Oak's VP and GM Chuck Gallacher says he's not saying anything... but was quite agitated when I talked to him, however Gallacher says he will take the high road on this...but as readers of The Weekly Roundup know.... we don't travel on no high roads round here. So here's hoping for a poor turnout at the camp or better yet that Revelstoke cancels it. And what were the arena's managers thinking when they made that deal humiliating their main tenant anyway.
Last summer the league Governors voted yes to allow the new Grizz ownership (Parent) to take over the team, I'm betting right about now... some of them, one for sure, are questioning how they voted ...
